NDU highly recommends that you DO NOT modify your MS Outlook settings to encrypt contents and attachments for ALL outgoing messages, as this may prevent many of your email recipients from opening your email. You can choose to “Encrypt” or “Sign” this email without affecting the settings for other outgoing email. To toggle ON or OFF a digital signature or encryption in MS Outlook, open a “New Email,” click on the “File” tab, and then click on the “Options” tab. NDU recommends that you toggle your digital signature and encryption options on and off depending upon the type of information you are sending via email message, although it is also acceptable to enable your digital signature for all outgoing email (See “MS Outlook Settings,” below). Sending Digitally Signed or Encrypted Email Messages If the email was sent without access to your current public key, you will not be able to open the email. When you open the email, you may be prompted to enter your CAC PIN. A gold padlock will appear in the far right corner of the message. When you receive an encrypted email message, a padlock appears next to the subject line of the email in your inbox. Once the email is open, the signer’s name appears after “Signed By” in the header of the message, and a red ribbon will appear in the far right corner of the message. When you receive a digitally signed email message, a red ribbon appears next to the subject line of the email in your inbox. Receiving Digitally Signed Email Messages If none of the solutions works, you can use the option to upload your results to Microsoft, or go to Microsoft Community to request help.NDU technically supports encrypting and digitally signing out-going email using Microsoft Outlook 2010 and a DoD-issued Common Access Card (CAC) on NDU's network email servers (" following instructions apply only to the use of MS Outlook 2010 on NDU network-based Exchange email servers using a CAC. SaRA will run a set of diagnostic checks, and then return some possible solutions for you to try to fix Outlook connectivity issues. Install the Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) if prompted. It also gives you the option to upload your results to Microsoft so that a support engineer can review them. This step creates detailed information about your Outlook configuration and provides solutions for any known issues that are detected. Run the recovery assistant if you've tried all of the preceding steps and Outlook is still crashing or hanging. If it's on, please go to Troubleshooting Outlook issues. Check to see if the new Outlook toggle is turned on or off. Note: The Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant is not applicable to new Outlook for Windows. Select the profile that you want to remove, and then select Remove. In the list of installed programs, right-click the entry for your Microsoft 365 installation and then select Change > Online Repair. Select Uninstall a program from the Programs group. Type Control Panel in the search box at the bottom of the Windows screen. If the issue recurs, remove the last add-in to be added. Repeat until either all add-ins have been re-added, or the issue recurs. If the issue doesn't recur, add the next add-in. If the issue doesn't recur, start adding the add-ins back one at a time.Īfter adding each add-in, exit then re-open Outlook. Select any active check boxes to clear them, and then select OK. If Outlook doesn't crash or hang, continue by selecting File > Options > Add-Ins.Īt the bottom of the window, select COM Add-ins and then select Go.
